Summary

These Rules, issued in 2016, develop and refine the reporting requirements set by the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 2003. Article 3, 4 and 5 of the Rules determine the means and process by which companies are to report of injury or dangerous occurrence, death of an employee, and cases of occupational disease. In addition, all companies are required to report to the Chief Inspector in cases of gas incidents. Part II of the Rules determines those incidents which are deemed to be dangerous and, therefore, require notification. Parts IV, V and VI further specifies what are dangerous incidents for mines, quarries and offshore facilities, respectively. Finally, the First Schedule of the Rules provides a full and detailed list of all reportable occupational diseases, while the Second Schedule provides the template for reporting on injury or dangerous occurrences, as required by Article 3.
